Beach House, IJburg

This beach house on IJburg, Amsterdam, was designed with a strong focus on privacy and protection from the elements. The front facade, located on the street side, is relatively closed with small window openings, high parapets and robust exterior walls.

A dark-colored fiber cement board was used for the northern façade, which not only provides a sleek and modern look, but also functions as an effective barrier against light and cold. Behind the fiber cement shutters are the bedrooms, contributing to a comfortable and energy-efficient living environment, ideal for a family home.

This 180-square-foot home was completed in November 2008.
