Apartment building located in the Amstel Quarter just outside the center of Amsterdam, right at the intersection where the Amstel River meets the Kopweespertrekvaart. The building consists of three apartments with a shared parking garage. The ground and second floor, totaling 180 m2 GLA, has a live/work room in the garden house. The second floor is a ground floor apartment for an expat, total 60 m2 GLA. The third, fourth and fifth floors are the upper floor with roof terrace and attic apartment totaling 210 m2. The entire building is equipped with a sprinkler system, heat pumps and solar panels on the roof.
The building is located between other apartment buildings with a plot width of 6 m. The depth of the plot is 36 m and ends with a courtyard garden behind the gazebo. Thirteen identical insulated aluminum sliding doors (Kawneer Netherlands) provide daylight. This falls in at the end across the entire width and height, which is the maximum allowed; five at the front (street side), six at the rear (garden side) and two on either side of the garden house. Although all floors have the same facades except the first floor on the street side, the building has a differentiated appearance.
To accentuate the length, it is possible to have an unobstructed view from front to back on each floor. Interior sliding doors, some as wide as three meters, guarantee that view.
Large voids in the ground and upper floors ensure that the floors form a unity. The upper floor has a recessed volume on the fifth floor, giving it a sunny roof terrace facing south.
