Landscape Abbing, Zeist

For the Abbing landscape on Koeburgweg in Zeist, a study was conducted on the development potential of the area. In doing so, we drew inspiration from the beautiful neighboring De Breul estate, which was purchased by a Utrecht banker in 1832 and subsequently transformed into a landscape park by renowned garden architect J.D. Zocher.

In the design, we distinguish four landscape zones:

  1. The park, centrally located, with two buildings and public access for walkers.
  2. The field, with subtle reference to Zocher and the historical structure of the area.
  3. The riverbank, which enhances the natural character of the environment.
  4. The forest, which provides a transition to the surrounding landscape.

This study examines how the unique qualities of the site can be preserved and enhanced within a balanced spatial development.
