For the 2016 HAF / COA competition, an innovative concept was developed for a temporary reception site that offers an unforgettable welcome experience for refugees coming into contact with the Netherlands. At the same time, it functions as a special residence experience for students.
The design uses modular units (similar to beach houses), which are placed in circles of various sizes in the dunes or on existing dune campsites. This allows optimal use of existing infrastructure, allowing for a quick and relatively easy “plug-and-play” solution to an unexpected influx of people.
